May was born in MN (1867) but grew up in SD — likely accounts for South Dakota birthplace claims in later censuses. May is ABSENT from 1880 Sioux Falls household (would be age ~12-13); may have been elsewhere at time of census or missed in indexing. Married William H Lewis in 1887.
