The birth date of 31 July may be from the 1911 census and could be approximate, or the registration was significantly delayed. Using 1885 as confirmed birth year; exact date to be verified against GRO certificate. Born in Canterbury, Kent. 1901 census: Found as 'Edith M Ellis', age 15, born Canterbury, Kent, living in Charlton and Kidbrooke (Woolwich registration district) — same area Edwin W G Sacre lived.
