Father of Annie Orissa Hathaway Farrington (ID 126). Married Orissa Jane Hale c.1870 in Maine. Died young at age 37 (24 Jan 1888), leaving three children — Annie (12), Maud (9), and Guy (4) — and an infant son Mark C. who had already died in 1885. Buried with wife at Mattawamkeag Cemetery. NOTE — Name: FindAGrave and Mattawamkeag Cemetery headstone both use 'John Adams Hathaway' (or 'John A. Hathaway'). FamilySearch PID LC11-MNC was previously noted as 'John Quincy Adams Hathaway' — possible middle name error in FamilySearch tree; retained as alias pending verification. NOTE — Birth year conflict: FindAGrave lists birth as 20 Feb 1850; the Mattawamkeag Cemetery headstone transcript (penobscotcountymegen.info) gives 1851. Father Justus's memorial bio independently states 'JOHN ADAMS HATHAWAY, b. 20 Feb 1850' — this corroborates the FindAGrave date. Using 1850-02-20.
